As had been done with MacKay’s predecessors, Finn wrote to him to inform him about the Feather Bed file. Five files remained active, but none of the subjects were about employees of the Federal Government. Finn attached an updated version of the chronology of Feather Bed that had been provided to previous Solicitor Generals. Finn warned that the mention of Feather Bed in the upcoming book by British author, Chapman Pincher, entitled “Too Secret Too Soon” may revive public interest in the file.
