CDFB00173. 16 April 1970. Annual Report 1969-1970 of the Featherbed Section.
This annual report evaluated the progress the Featherbed section had made toward identifying and neutralizing any influential person working in high-level positions against the Canadian Government since the section’s establishment in June 1968. The basic goal and approach of looking into the early Communist connections of suspected individuals remained unchanged. The report noted that cooperation with allied services – unnamed, but likely the Americans and British – had aided the search of new leads. While the Featherbed section was making progress in tracking Canadians with any connections to the Communist movement in the 1930s and 1940s, more unnamed areas and methods had to be explored to improve coverage of that time period.
