On 20 November 1979, Lawrence met with the RCMP for a briefing on Featherbed. He was shown two documents produced for the RCMP’s internal use and Lawrence asked to keep them. The RCMP asked for the documents to be returned, but Lawrence never returned one of the missing files. Throughout 1980, the Director General and Commissioner searched of the missing material, but it never surfaced. While Lawrence had returned some material, it seems not all had been returned.
