5 June 1946: Hydra Communications
In light of the proposed Canadian HYDRA takeover, Col. A.E. Wrinch (Director of Signals) undertook a survey of the HYDRA facilities. In this memorandum to the Chief of General Staff, Wrinch provides details on the technical equipment, buildings, personnel, communications facilities, and costs of operating the Oshawa facility known as Camp X.
Wrinch notes that while the army could take over the station operations, it could only do so if the current staff, working under Col. Benjamin deForest Bayly of British Security Coordination, were retained, as the army signals corps would not be able to provide enough manpower without closing other stations.
