Following Robertson’s suggestions regarding the US draft reply, specifically about timing and the phrasing of the announcement, the US note “would be revised and would have to be circulated again to interested agencies in Washington and that, in the light of this, we could not expect to receive it before the middle of June.” This is acceptable to the Canadians so long as it is made clear that the delay was not due to the Canadian government.
