20 November 1953: More Allegations

During the same time period as the investigation into the sources mentioned in Hoover's letter, the Canadian government experiences difficulty obtaining information from the Americans. After an inflammatory speech from American conservative Victor Lasky which made reference to Canadian sources, Pearson suspects that information from congressional committees is being leaked. They request full transcripts of any testimony referencing Canadian sources. As the message states: “the Canadian Government accordingly is surprised to learn that such testimony has come into the hands of unofficial American sources while the official records have not been made available to the Canadian Government.”
