18 November 1953: Discussion in Parliament
Member of Parliament John Diefenbaker questions Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent about the Hoover letter and gets a vague reply in response. St. Laurent did not have knowledge of the letter “until [he] saw the report in the newspapers.” He assures Diefenbaker that there is an inquiry underway, but “so far we have not discovered anything that would enable us to trace any such communication.”
