19 April 1957: Interim Reply

Following Ambassador Heeney’s suggestion, Deputy Under Secretary of State Robert Murphy sends an interim reply. It is short and somewhat vague, stating that “the matter will be pursued vigorously, and the Department will be in touch with your Embassy.” An official reply to the April 10 note remains outstanding.
