Excerpt from U.K. Hansard

March 17, 1953. This excerpt from Hansard includes a discussion and remarks in the UK Parliament Prime Minister Churchill, Mr. Arthur Henderson, and Air Commodore George Harvey in the days after the shooting down of the Lincoln bomber. Details include the number of fatalities and the exact time it took place.  Churchill described the shooting down of the Lincoln Bomber as  “a cruel and wanton attack.” In Parliament, Churchill stated that the bomber was not carrying any ammunition. However, the incoming message No. 565 (see below) from The High Commissioner for Canada just three days later, complicates Churchill’s statement. The Prime Minister was also questioned on the evidence from the wreckage and the return of the bodies of the British airmen.
