Moscow no. 260 to SSEA

March 26, 1953. This telegram was written by the Canadian Charge D'Affaires in Moscow to the Secretary of State for External Affairs. It offers the broader context surrounding the Canadian interception of Soviet aircraft on March 19. The Charge D'Affaires argued that the Soviet Union would not be able to overtly protest the interception, due to “recent interference of United States and United Kingdom aircraft” (see section here). These events collectively were thought to determine the Soviet response to Canada's actions, indicating the cohesiveness of the Western bloc and NATO command.
