November 1 - November 6 (Flying Hours)
On November 1st, 1962, a cable from the Canadian Air Command in Halifax to the Canadian Air Forces in Europe, wrote about their relief that Ottawa authorized a “flying rate” increase which helped make up for Canada’s “inadequate” assistance to the US Navy previously (see CDNW12397). On the same day, CANAIRLANT notified the Canadian Commander Maritime Force Atlantic that the 404, 405, and 415 squadrons were authorized to “fly at the increased rate of 72 hours per day” (see CDNW12398). On November 6th, 1962, the Canadian Air Force Headquarters wrote to the Canadian Air Command in Halifax, instructing the squadrons to return to flying for the “absolutely minimum” number of hours (see CDNW12400 and CDNW12278), or as seen in document CDNW12432, “normal peacetime rates.”
