8 February 1954: Joint Planning Committee Draft Report

Attached is the first draft of a Joint Planning Committee study regarding the implications of Eisenhower’s New Look policy on Canadian defence policy. The major conclusion is that the main implications for Canada will involve increased commitments to North American continental defence. The study also notably states that there is no clear indication that the United States will withdraw forces from Europe.
