2 March 1954: Defence Liaison Memorandum

Preparing notes for the Minister on US defence policy, the Defence Liaison warns against making critical public remarks in the United States about the New Look strategy. According to this reasoning, concerns regarding US policy should be raised through official channels and not brought directly to American citizens. The liaison argues that public criticism could harm Canada’s position in private talks with the Eisenhower administration.
