Zvonimir Hirsl
Zvonimir Hirsl, a Yugoslav who had "done much valuable work for [the British] in Europe," was "apparently granted an entry permit" into Canada "on the condition that he took up farming." The problem with this plan was Hirsl was "not particularly anxious" to become a farmer (CDYS00022).
Fortunately, Tommy Stone of External Affairs was able to release Hirsl from his obligation to become a farmer. Hirsl settled in Montreal instead.
