The Missing Report
In 1945, William Stephenson produced a handful of copies of a report on the BSC's wartime activities. Roald Dahl, a BSC officer of later fame as a children's author, may have helped draft it. This 1955-56 correspondence clearly indicates that Canadian officials were aware of the report's existence, and it may even have reached Prime Minister Mackenzie King.
In the 1950s, senior Canadian officials could not locate a copy. This suited them just fine, as they considered BSC subject matter too sensitive for public disclosure.
The report was finally published in 1998 as the book British Security Coordination: The Secret History of British Intelligence in the Americas, 1940-1945.
