Bell Telephone Company of Canada
78 O'Connor Street
Ottawa, Ont.
Attention: District Sales Manager - Defence
Dear Sir:
As you may be aware it is intended to ir.ove certain telecommunication activities from Ottawa Wireless Station, Leitrim, Ontario
to Experimental Army Signals Establishment (EASE) Carp, Ontario during
the next 12 months*
The move ©$ these activities will require rerouting of certain
leased lines* It is likely that these circuits will have to be rerouted
sori etin:e during the period January-July I9660 Circuits from Carp to
terminals cutside the Ottawa area require to be routed via DKD carrier
equipment at Smiths Falls or Renfrew while circuits to terminals in the
Ottawa area are best routed via the Bell Telephone repeater at Carp.
The ultimate routing plan of the circuits concerned is shown
at Annex A* Sore circuits may be ungraded to 100 wpm operation,,
DKD carrier terminal stations at Smiths Falls and Renfrew will
not be ready to take the circuits listed Annex A for some months after
the transfer is to be effectedo As a temporary measure, routing of all
circuits via the Bell Telenhone repeater Carp will be necessary to enable
the proposed transfer to be made.
Will you please notify this Department if provision can be made
for routing all the circuits listed Annex A via the Bell Telephone
Repeater Carp, In this connection, to ease certain arrangements at
EASE, all half duplex circuits should be
a. provided unerergised (EASE will provide power)
b. extended h wire from Carp repeater ?,o EASE.
