DND 5065 Dear Sirs; Reference our CSC 2218„2 dated 9 November I960, Circuit DND 5065, amongst others, had been used for sometime before being listed in the Army section of the Longline Catalogues. It was then listed therein in order that it wight be assigned a priority category. If the listings shown in the reference are examined, it will be noted that the circuits 5064.°5076 serves a rather high level of military and government authorities. The Canadian Army authorities coneerned have been particularly perturbed in respect to outages on DND 5065 and have sent the following letter to Joint Telecommunications Staffs • , 1. "Bell Telephone Co circuit No 2GT7420 is a duplex circuit between Ottawa Wireless Station, Leitrim, Ontario and Washington DC (ClA)o It. has recently been assigned DND Circuit No'5065. 2o It is anticipated that the current studies on restoration of line circuits in an emergency will result in the assignment of a high priority to this circuit. The nature of the traffic'makes' it essential that lost circuit time be the minimum possible and outages exceeding five minutes are significant. 3. The reliability of the circuit has never been as high as desired and Is progressively deteriorating.
