With reference to our recent meetings in Ottawa on the'
above subject.
The Americans tell me that they are going to select one
or tv/o Engineers for Rockex training and would be very grateful if
you could undertake the training in your school as you did
last year.
I understand they have not yet made their selection, but
in the meantime I should be grateful if you could let me know
whether it will be possible for you to accommodate them, and
perhaps let me know an approximate date when this could be done.

They also tell me they will shortly be making arrangements
\ for a duplex circuit between Washington and Leitrim. Have they
\ notified you of this by any chance?

Zee, we can arrange to train one or two
US engineers in Rockex maintenance. We had
planned to conduct training for one HCAF technician at the Royal Canadian School of SignolB,
Kingston, Ontario from i^jSO Oct 59 and would
like to include the US engineers at that time*
If this is unsuitable please advise as we could
re-arrange the dates*
We require the following information not?

Rockex Training
Thank you for your letter H^TS 1250-36 dated September
9th. I fear the official mail between our two headquarters takes
a considerable time, and as I informed you on the phone, I tried to
contact you on Friday (18th) afternoon, only having received your
letter that day. I must confirm now that the Americans have
changed their minds and decided that the Engineer they have at
present is capable of training others satisfactorily; incidentally,
I have procured a full supply of all Rockex spares for them and I
hope this will make a difference.
I apologise for any inconvenience you have been
caused, and very much regret the change of heart as I am sure
this would have been a good thing.

Northern Trip
You will have appreciated from what I said yesterday
that I was only asking you for dates or tentative dates in order to
try and fix on a trip to the South which has been scheduled for
some time. I am afraid the time has come to make a decision and
the people down there are anxious to get the job done. I do not
think I shall be available, therefore, between October 13th and
the end of the month. In view of what you tell me of your and
others' plans, do you not think it would be better to post-pone
it till next Spring, which as you say would be a very much better
time to go. Personally, I am quite happy to do this, particularly
if it would make matters mora easy for you. I confirm that I
have official sanction from London to make this trip.

3. Duplex Circuit Washington-Ottawa
I discussed this yesterday with our friends down
here and they will be getting in touch with you about the plan
to go Duplex.
With kindest regards,

£yo-<S*->^>
