Report on Bi-Conical Sector
and Alto Antenna Array

©

1.
The attached reports are forwarded for approval and
onward transmission to Mr E.G.N. Bremner of the British
Embassy, Washington. Mr Bremner requested information
on the Bi-Conical Sector and the Alto Array during a
recent visit.
'
It will be noted that reference is made to
Canadian Comint and it is suggested that this should be
pointed out to Mr Bremner.

Interest was also shown in the Alto Antenna Array.
It is felt that a copy of the installation instructions,
together with the model pattern, will provide the information
Mr Bremner wants. No full scale patterns were taken bjrt
the results being obtained at the Alto sites would indicate
that the antennas are doing a good job. With regard to the
" V " aerials, it should be pointed out that the requirement
at Alto was for an antenna with a very broad forward lobe
and as good a front to back ratio as could be ohtained.
The broad front lobe explains why relatively short leg lengths
were used for the sloping Vs.
