REPLY TO BE ADDRESSED T O :
THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE
FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

OTTAWA

CJLVJLDA.

O t t a w a , November 1 9 , 1946,

Dear A r t :

I enclose a copy of a signal which we
have now despatched to the Director, L.S.I.C.
For your information, this was cleared with both
Mr. Abbott and Mr. Ilsley. Ilsley agreed that
the station should be taken over providing there
was no capital cost Involved and that the funds
were available in National Defence (Army) votes.
I shall let you know when we have a reply from
the United Kingdom.
Incidentally, I think it would be a
good idea if you could rescue the correspondence
on this matter which went on between Mr. Abbott
and the Under-Secretary. I understand that it
is at present in the possession of Colonel
Cameron, the Military Secretary, and I should
personally feel somewhat happier if all the
papers were In the possession of one of the members of the Committee. I donft know whether you
could do this without difficulty but I thought
It was perhaps worth mentioning.
Yours sincerely,

riigC
G. G. Gfean.

Colonel A. E. Wrinch,
Director of Signals,
Department of National Defence (Army),
Ottawa.
