Exchange of atomic energy information
ton will have received telegram i?A-123lf of
Hay 6th from Washington concerning the informal approach
made to Mr. Wrong by the British Embassy and the State
Department about the possibility of arranging, on short
notice, a tripartite oonference at Ottawa within the
next ten days or two weeks on the comparability of
security standards.
Sir Alexander Clutterbuck left with Mr. Howe
today the attached memorandum of May 7th on this subject.
He said that Mr* Howe said that he would be very happy
to see Canada participate in the conference.
Sir
Alexander also informed Mr. Howe, on instructions from
the U.K. authorities, that the U.K. authorities hoped
that it salght be possible for th© meeting to take place
in Ottawa. Mr. Hove felt that this ought to be possible.
I informed Sir Alexander of the Information
given in Washington message HA-123^.
Sir Alexander
said that the information ho had from his Government
waa that thor© were only two members of the British
party -Hollis and tt* D. Wilkinson who Is UnderSecretary of their Establishment and Organisation
Division of the Stinistry of Supply,
I assume that you will be speaking to Mr*
Howe about this.
