Attached la a draft telegram to George Ignatleff
on the subject of NATO nuclear arrangements indicating a
positive position on our part with regard to membership in .
the Select Committee. For easy reference I am also enclosing copies of telegrams DL-1243 and 1467.
I would appreciate if you could obtain the views
of Mr. Hellyer with regard to this telegram and send ue any
comments you may have as soon as possible. I am anxious to
have this telegram get'to Paris before the end of the week
as George Ignatieff is going on leave and only returning
for the meeting on July 21. I myself am going on leave
tonight and would appreciate If your comments could be given
to Arthur Menzies, Head of Defence Liaison (1) Division.
