We the Heads of African States and Governments,

Having considered a l l aspects of the questions of
gerieraldisarmament;

Unanimously convinced of the imperious and urgent
necessity of co-ordinating and intensifying their
'&gt;

efforts to'contribute to the achievement of a
realistic: disarmament programme through the signing,
by all States concerned, of a Treaty on general and
complete disarmament under strict and effective
internationalcontrol;
Have agreed unanimously to concert and co-ordinate
their efforts and action in these various fields, and
to this end have decided on the following'measurest .
1.

To declare and accept Africa as denuclearized zone;

the banning of nuclear and thermo-nuclear tests; the
peaceful use of nuclear energy and the banning of the
manufacture of nuclear weapons.
