Co-ordination

A number of C_anadians, not exceeding 12.5, who
have been discharged from the Canadian Army, are employed
by the m/n. No procedure has been set up· to notify nextof-kin when casualties
occur to these men. Upon representations by Mr. T.G. Drew-Brook, Canadian representative
of
this organization,
as a matter of convenience to British
Security Co-ordination
and without prejudice to the British
. Government's responsibility
(if any) for pensions, etc.,
it has been agreed to ask you to implement the following
Records procedure.
1.

2.
When a casualty occurs to one of the men described in para. 1, MO 1 (SP),,· War Office, will advise Canrecords by letter under ·seal, of the correct name, Canadian
Regimental number, and nature of the casualty,
frefixed by
the words "Green Casualty".
Subsequently MO 1 SP) will
give Canrecords such information concerning the casualty
as it may judge suitable
for onward transmission
to nextof-kin.

3.
On receipt of the first advice of casualty, Canrecords •will cable detail of this casualty to D. Records,
N.D.H.Q,., with the prefix "Green Casualty".
D. Records will
then advise the next-of-kin
shown in his Records by means
of telegram. similar to that in Appendix "A".
4.
D. Records will follow up with a type letter
explaining that no further information is available.
If
and when it does become available,
next-of-kin
will be.so
advised .
.5.
Would you be kind enough to advise MO1 (SP),
War Office, of the procedure now being adopted by you. I·
am given to understand Mr. Drew-Brook is writing to them.
There may be some minor points which require to be changed;
in this case your early advice would be appreciated.
For
your convenience, two additional
copies of this letter are
attached.
