WE ARE INFORMED BY THE STACDING GROUP REPRESENTATIVE THAT SACLANT

AND JOINTCINCEASTLANT INTEND TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING PRESS RELEASE ON
THE SMALL-SCALE EXERCISE SHARP SQUALL THREE ON 3RD NOV 1958jIT HAS

BEEN SUGGESTED THAT THE MINISTRIES OF DEFENCE OF THE NATIONS WHOSE
FORCES WILL BE TAKING PART SHOULD ALUO MAKE THE SAME RELEASE:

"A NATO NAVAL/AIR EXERCISE WILL BE HELD BETWEEN 10TH AND 28TH NOV

IN THE EASTERN ATLANTIC AND GIBRALTAR AREA UNDER THE JOINT COMMANDERS IN-CHIEF EASTERN ATLANTIC AREACADMIRAL SIR WILLI AN DAVIS AND AIR
MARUHAL SIR BRYAN REYNOLDS).ITS OBJECT IS TO PROVIDE TACTICAL AND

WEAPONS TRAINING FOR THE PARTICIPATING NATIONS IN COORDINATING AIR

AND SEA ANTI-SUBMARINE OPERATIONS. CANADIAN,FRENCH, NETHERLANDS, GERMAN,

PORTUGUESE AND UK NAVAL UNITS AND MARITIME AIRCRAFT WILL TAKE PART.
2. IT IS REQUESTED THAT THIS INFO BE TREATED AS"RESTRICTED"UNTIL
