E, will depart

Helifex 8 October 1958 for exercises in the Mediterranean and
subsequently while enroute from Gibraltar to the United £Ingdon.
Details of the W Ships involved and the tentative schedule
of movements are attached.
Planning of the exercises la now taking place between
appropriate NATO and national commanders, it la possible that
Canadian diplomatic representatives in Italy and France eight be
approached, by authorities of those countries involved in
plenning the exercises, concerning arrangoments for the Royal
Canadian Navy. No firm progrenme la available on which to base
a request for clearances and arrangements for visits and none
should be requested at thia tine.

However, as your representatives moy become aware of the
tentative programne, you may desire to acquaint them in advance.
They can be assured that the requests for clearances and arrangements
will be processed through your Depertment in the noraal Manner at
a later date.
