Subject: Council Meeting on June 30th, 1954. 17 Item II - Attendance of Ministers of Defence at 1954 Exercises, 9 10 , 6 JUL 1954 Copies Referred To.......... A survey disclosed that six Defence Ministers definitely proposed to attend exercise "Battle Royal" (Belgium, Canada, France, Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom); five would probably do so (Denmark, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey), and two would not attend (Luxembourg and United States). Under the circumstances, it was agreed to proceed with the necessary arrangements. 2. The exercise in question was being held between September 23 and 28 next. It was thought that the latter parts would probably be the most interesting, and that, very likely, Ministers would be invited for September 26 and 27. The Standing . Group and SACEUR were being consulted, and the Council would be notified as soon as a decision had been made. 3.
