The Secretary of State for External

Affairs presents his compliments to his Excellency
the Minister of Sweden and has the honour to refer
to the Minister's Rote No. S1 of November 23, 1953

in which he expressed his Government’s protest
against flights over Swedish territory of aircraft

belonging to the air forces of the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization.

The Royal Canadian Air Force has conducted

a thorough investigation into the possibility that
Canadian aircraft were involved in violations of

Swedish territory during the period referred to in
the Minister's Rote.

As a result of this investi-

gation, it is now possible to state with assurance

that no aircraft of the Royal Canadian Air Force

were involved in violations of Swedish territory.
The Secretary of State for External
Affairs takes this opportunity of renewing to the

Minister of Sweden the assurances of his highest

consideration.
