HMC Ships "MAGNIFICENT" (Commodore H.S.
Rayner, DSC, CD, RCN), "QUEBEC" (Captain E.W. Finch-Noyes,
CD, RCN), ’’ALGONQUIN” (Commander P.F.X. Russell, CD, RCN),
"SWANSEA" (Lieutenant Commander W.D.F. Johnston, RCN), and
"LA HULLOISE" (Lieutenant Commander H.A. Porter, CD, RCN),
will be employed in Exercise MARINER from 16 September,
until 4 October, 1953. The tentative programme in
connection with the exercise is being arranged by Local
Notification Procedure and is attached as Appendix "A”.
Particulars of the ships are given in Appendix "B".

The contemplated visit of HMCS "MAGNIFICENT"
to Cherbourg, France, of which you were advised in my
letter NSS 1650-26 Vol. 9 (Staff) dated 11 August, 1953,
is no longer planned.
