Headquarters officers said they had received no messages from the Quebec or any other Canadian source indicating that her crew had been unruly when the cruiser visited Narvik as part of the Exercise Main Brace. Naval ratings and officers, as well as officers and men of the other Canadian forces, are invariably warned to be on their best behavior while visiting foreign countries. (The newspaper Lofoten Folkeblad said yesterday that ashtrays, table lamps and shades had been taken by the seamen and that one seaman had thrown a borrowed bicycle into the sea.)
