The Honourable Paul Martin,
Minister of External Affairs,
OTTAWA, Ontario.
Dear Paul:-

I

I have accepted an invitation of The
Ditchley Foundation to attend as a Canadian representative 0n Angle-American Conference on the Problem of
the Nuclear Deterrent in the Context of
Relations, which will be held in England September 27-30.
As I may be the only Canadian there, it would be very
helpful in endeavouring to repr.esent Canadian opinion
to have some briefing and the latest authoritative
statements. It would be very usefuliif you would: ask
the appropriate member of your staff to send me some of
your recent speeches and other memoranda for my information and use. To indicate what will be discussed.I
enclose a photostatic copy of the only note which I have
about the Agenda and also a photostatic copy of the list
or those participants.
As an old conferee, if you have any
personal tips I shall be glad of them. I have. made a
similar request for brie'fing to Paul Hellyer.
With kind personal regards,

DRM:c
