Combined Policy Committee
Xm
Reference is made to your memorandum of 2 June, I960,
tJith copy of letter Ba* &0k from the Canadian Embassy in
Washington concerning the Combined Policy Committee.
2*
Canadian activity in the Tripartite Technical
Cooperation Programme is confined to the non-atomic field*
3Ms programme is directed oy the Subcommittee on Ifon-Atomic
Military Research and Development. this is, of course, a
sub-committee of the Combined Policy Committee*
3,
Since the inception of the programme in December 1957*
no occasion has arisen trhich the Sub-Committee felt needed to be
referred to the Combined Policy Committee* Consequently, it is
my opinion that from the non~atomic and technical viewpoint,
insofar as Canada is concerned there is no requirement for the
appointment of Washington deputies to represent the Combined
folicy Committee.
4*
With reference to the comment in paragraph three of
your memorandum regarding insufficient information on the
tripartite technical Cooperation Programme, *&® attached report
to the Chiefs of Staff Committee is forwarded for retention.
