When the Minister read Telegr:m No. 41l of
June 13 from Bonn on this subject, he noted the request
in paragraph2of the telegram for more details concerning the official Canadian position. The. Minister said
that our Embassy in Bonn should have for its own information
the following details:
a)
the proposed NATO Multilateral Force was
not discussed during the Iv'finister's conversations with Shroeder or:; VonHassel at
the time of the recent NATO Meeting in
Ottawa;
b)
the Prime Minister's statenent in Parliament
indica ted that Canada would not be partie ipating in the
and
c)
without having had prior consult at ions with
the Prime IvJ:inister or with the Ninister of
National Defence, lVIr. :rviartin said at a Press
Conference in Quebec City on June 8, 1963 ·
that there was no question of _Canadian participation in the MLF "at this time 11 •
