Visit of Mr. Livingston Merchant
The press release annexed to the-attached
memorandum was not approved by the Minister. He
thought it better-not to go out of our way to draw
attention to these discussions of a NATO Multilateral
Force. At any rate, the Minister had noted the
editorial in the Toronto 11 Globe and Mail n on June·
5 and said that the ·press were well aware that Mr.
Merchant was coming.
· The "Minister retained the· suggested reply
to any que.stions in the House· of Conmoris. He intends
to use this material if the question is raised today.
