Notwithstanding a request made at the first meeting of
Advisory Committee held on February
1962 9 to the effect that departmental emergency planning officers
making field trips should wherever possible call on EMO Regional
Directors and discuss departmental progress and planning
(Minutes of the meeting dated March 1 9 1962, Item
it is evident that in some instances this procedure is not being
followed.
2.
In view of the responsibility of the Emergency Measures
Organization to c.oordinate federal departmental emergency planning9 it is important that EMO Regional Directors are kept
informed of all developments in emergency planning within their
areas of responsibility and, especially 9 in relation to
plans affecting provincial governments. It is requested 9 therethat when departmental planning officers meet in the

regions with their regional planning officers9 or with provincial
officials on matters related to emergency planning 9 the EMO
Regional Directors be invited to attend the discussions or be kept
informed of the results obtained from such discussions.

3.
The Er·m Federal
Officer (telephone 2-5585) is
available to coordinate any meetings desired by departmental
planning officers with EMO Regional Directorso
