The unfortunate failures of late i:. the trans -Atlantic
which culminated on Saturday last, May 9, in only the TAT 3 "aablès
cable
surviving for a time, has .caused u:, some concern.

the neriod when our joint circn.it in TAT 1 WL)s out of
service, we
should have been able to meet the requirement by mr:king une of the
G.C.II.Q. circuit (normally in CA71TAT) which has been
routed in TAT .,3

It wao to this end that we sought and obtained
locally the arreemcnt of G.C.:í.4. to our taking; their cable if the
'need arose and serviced the U.S.C. U'fC Leitrim akin him to make
similar provicionol arrangements for a owitch at your end.
In the event it was unnece:iosry 17or uo to take the G.C.H.Q.
circuit since our ov'n circ iit was restored after two hours.

it seems prudent to
