w hereabouts of Igor Sergelevitch G ouzenko and his w ife,
Svetlana G ouzenko, who disappeared from O ttaw a, O ntario,
on the 7th instant, together w ith their son, Andrei, who

Prior to tho disappearance of U r. G ouzenko and

and has the honour to inform the D epartm ent of External Affairs
of the follow ing:
A colleague of the Em bassy,Igor Sergeievitch G usenko,living
at 511 Som erset St., failed to report for w ork at the proper tim e on
the 6th. Septem ber.
In connection w ith this and for the purpose of clarifying
the reasons for the failure of I.G usenkofs reporting for w ork,
C onsul V*G .Pavloff and tw o other colleagues of the Em bassy cvisited ;
the apartm ent of I.G usenko at 11.30 on the 6th.Sept.

W hen M r,.Pavloff knocked at the door of G usenso1s apartm ent
no-one answ ered. After this the apartm ent w as opened by the abovem entioned colleagues of the Em bassy w ith G usenkofs duplicate key,
w hen i
tw as discovered that neither G usenko,nor his w ife ‘Svetliana
Borisovna G usenko, nor their son Andrei, w ere in the apartm ent.

t was later established that I.G usenko robbed som e
m oney belonging to the Em bassy and had hidden him self together w ith
his fam ily.

Affairs to take urgent m easures to seek and arrest I.G usenko and
to hand him over for deportation, as a capital crim inal,w ho has
stolen m oney belonging to the Em bassy.
In addition the Em bassy brings to the attention of the
D epartm ent of External Affairs the rude treatm ent accorded to
the diplom atic colleagues of the Em bassy by C onstable W alsh and
,the C ity Polioe M acdonald, and expresses i
